Our Story
The Rhode Island Public Health Association (RIPHA) is the Rhode Island affiliate of the American Public Health Association (APHA). APHA is the oldest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world, working to improve public health since 1872. APHA is the national voice of public health and champions the health of all people and all communities. It is the only organization that combines a nearly 150-year perspective and a broad-based member community to improve public health.
RIPHA was established in 1996 with a mission to influence public health policy and promote public health practice in Rhode Island. For 28 years, RIPHA has worked to protect the public health of all Rhode Islanders and to provide a venue for public health supporters and professionals to learn and connect.

With strong ties to local providers, community-based organizations, professional associations, community leaders, academic institutions, and internationally recognized researchers, RIPHA provides current subject-matter expertise on a range of relevant topics in public health, as well as communication channels to disseminate public health messages to broad communities and vulnerable populations.

RIPHA brings together professionals in a unique, multi-disciplinary environment for idea exchange, study, and action and is open to any individual employed or interested in the field of public health.
