Sydney Ormerod, BS

Sydney Ormerod is the Director of Prevention for the Women’s Resource Center, where she has worked in different capacities within the department for the past 10 years. Sydney has a B.S in Healthy Communities from Roger Williams University, a degree that combines both the education of Public Health and Community Development. 

Prior to taking the Director position, Sydney spent much of her time supporting the community outreach efforts for the Newport Health Equity Zone’s strategies that are aimed to address the inequities that Newport residents face, supporting the decrease of the many forms of violence that exist. 

Experience working as both a Community Organizer and Project Manager has increased her skills to support the leadership development and convening between both community members and local partners. 

Valuing resident voice, prioritizing conversations around racial equity and intentionally supporting the shifting of current practices, polices and structures that remain, play a strong role within Sydney’s core commitments.
