Michael Nina, CCHW

Program Manager- Central Providence Opportunities: A Health Equity Zone, One Neighborhood Builders

Michael Nina is a dedicated public health leader, community advocate, and education champion with a strong track record of service in mental health, health equity, and civic engagement. As a Certified Community Mental Health Agent, Licensed Health Insurance Broker, and Certified Community Health Worker in Rhode Island, he has worked extensively to bridge healthcare gaps and empower underserved communities.


His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards and honors, including the 2019 National ACAP Award, a Community Leadership Citation from the City of Providence, and various leadership awards from organizations such as the African Alliance of Rhode Island, the Guatemalan American Association of RI, and Renaissance Adult Day Healthcare Center.


 His leadership extends to numerous advisory boards and committees, including:

 • African Alliance of RI (AARI)

 • Community Health Workers Association of RI (CHWARI) (Founding Member)

 • RI Commission for Health Advocacy and Equity

 • Governor Dan McKee’s COVID-19 Advisory Committee & Transition Task Force

 • President of the Advisory Committee for Centro de Innovación Mujer Latina

 • Providence School Board Member
