Gary Bliss
Senior Director Government Programs & Communication, Prospect Health Services RI
Garry Bliss currently serves as Senior Director Government Programs & Communication for Prospect Health Services RI. In that role, he manages a Medicaid Accountable Entity with approximately 20,000 attributed members and a Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organization (MSSP ACO) with almost 5,000 attributed members. During his seven years at Prospect, he has led their initiatives related to expanding Integrated Behavioral Health and Health-Related Social Needs. Another priority has been expanding services to address the needs of individuals with substance use disorder.
Before joining Prospect, Garry was at Care New England, with both Integra and The Providence Center, where he led their Medicaid Accountable Entity and community engagement. Prior to joining The Providence Center, Garry served as Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, Director of Legislative Affairs for Rhode Island General Treasurer Paul J. Tavares, Chief of Policy for Mayor David N. Cicilline, and Director of Community Development, City of Providence.
In his free time, Garry writes fiction and creative non-fiction. His fiction has appeared in Gramarye, Salt + Mirrors + Cats, M Presents: The Dread of Winter, and more. His essay, “Accumulations” (Tahoma Literary Review), was listed as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2020.
